Blog post 2

1. In the first video I believe the central message is that the way classes are taught should vary in what the class is. In this video the teacher is trying to teach students how to dance but is just using still pictures and not actually showing them how to do the dances so when they have to actually do them they are not prepared. The author makes his case for this by showing how the students didn't know any of the dances for the final. I agree with this conclusion because as with anything in life practice makes perfect and if you just sit back and take notes and not learn how to do what you are trying to learn it will be much harder.

2. In the second video Roberts is making an argument that the way students are being taught are changing into a more technological form. He explains how we can get facts anywhere at anytime though things such as Google or Wikipedia. As a teacher he believes that students should be taught in a more skill-based curriculum rather than the facts and information based curriculum that is the norm in teaching today. This will change everything about how future teacher myself included will be teaching. As teacher we will have to learn some of these skills ourselves.

3. The networked student really opened my eyes to how much social medias can enhance the class room. It implies how in the 21st century teachers should be more of a guide and mentor than just a person who stands in front of the class and tell them what to study and what to do. I am really interested in this form of teaching because it lets the student become move involved and actually use things they are interested in to learn the things they need to know.

4. Davis's teaching method seems to be more of what teaching in the 21st century will be. She believes that having her students work collaboratively with others to solve problems, do projects and connect socially will help their overall learning experience. I think this form of teaching is a very positive step in education because it not only teaches students the facts and information they need to learn but also the skills such as working with others, finding information when it is not handed to them and also how to get information they learn out to others. This style of teaching teaches the student to not just be taught by someone but to also teach themselves.
